Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the second trailer for its highly anticipated experimental horror film, The Carpenter’s Son, a chilling and mysterious reimagining of the story of Jesus with a dark, supernatural twist.
The film stars Nicolas Cage, FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, Souheila Yacoub, and Isla Johnston. Set in Roman-era Egypt, the story follows a humble carpenter, his wife, and their teenage son Jesus as their quiet life is upended by malevolent supernatural forces.
In the trailer, Joseph (Cage), Mary (FKA Twigs), and Jesus (Jupe) attempt to live peacefully while navigating the growing tension of spiritual warfare. However, their fragile existence is disrupted when a mysterious stranger (Isla Johnston) tempts Jesus to abandon his father’s devout guidance. As Jesus is drawn deeper into a forbidden world, violent and otherworldly events begin to follow him, leading to horrifying visions of the future. The tension escalates as Joseph realizes the sinister power influencing his son, ultimately revealing a shocking truth: the stranger’s identity and the child’s true name—Satan.
Written and directed by Lotfy Nathan, The Carpenter’s Son promises a visually striking and thought-provoking horror experience, blending religious mythos with psychological suspense. The film is slated for release on November 14, 2025, and has already generated buzz for its daring take on a well-known story.
